Excitment is Building: The New JCC

"Excitement is building - for the new JCC" - This is the tagline for the new Cincinnati JCC building scheduled to open in 2008.  David’s Voice polled Cincinnati’s young adults to find out what excites them the most about the new JCC building.  Here is what they said:

"Having a place to go where my kids and I can do stuff and where I can see friends." - Renee Levy

"That there is a JCC.  It is a horrible location because the Jewish community is moving north.  It is about time we got one back." - Aaron Binik Thomas

"I'm excited about the restaurant (joke).  That there will be one location for the Jewish community to hang out and host programs." - Rabbi Pinchas Landis

"There is a new JCC building opening up?  Cool.  I worked at the JCC in Dayton.  It is exciting." - Yafit Naor

"Mostly, the location is better.  It will provide a place for the community to gather.  Now the community is split up by synagogues.  The JCC transcends movement and practice, and I think Mark Rothschild is awesome."  - Scott Segal

"I went a lot when I was little.  I think it will be cool.  It will be close to the Jewish population.  I think there will be a lot more participation." - Jay Shifman

"That there actually is a JCC here.  I am from Indianapolis, and we have an amazing JCC there." - Kenny Lambert

"I am excited about a place for the whole Jewish community, young and old, to get together." - Kenneth Ecker

"The opportunity it gives Jews of all congregations to get together in a central place." - Jennifer Frenkel

"The return of a JCC.  I used to play basketball there when I was a kid.  The placement has been interesting.  I am glad it is closer to the city.  I hope my fraternity (AEPi) brothers and I can get involved and develop a sense of community." - Ryan Rosensweig

"It is about time Cincinnati has a JCC.  I was disappointed when it shut down.  It will be nice to have it again." - Justin Cohen

"It will be a nice central location for people in the community to meet up." - Amy Coppel

"Improved Jewish community theoretically, and improved community relations." - Jacob Lesch

"The opportunity to play sports." - Geoff Wise

"I’m looking forward to having another social gathering spot and place to meet other people my age with similar interests." - Brad Coppel

"I think it will provide an opportunity to stay healthy and hang out with other Jews." - Emily Hubscher

"That there will be one and I will join the gym." - Adam Delson

"I think it will be a place where Jews in Cincinnati can get together." - Lisa Delson
