Already three weeks into his adventures in Israel, this week Yoni encounters some very interesting people and organizations. Over the past few years, and especially with the recent publishing of Dan Senor and Saul Singer's book, Start Up Nation, Israel's penchant for innovation and creative spirit are no longer a secret. One of the smallest countires on the planet, the book pionts out that Israel has more tech-oriented companies listed on the NASDAQ than all of Europe, India, and China combined.

This creative spirit is captured below in these two videos, as Yoni meets with people from Better Place, an electric car and energy solutions company, and Leket, Israel's national food bank.

Watch the first video as Yoni takes a tour of the Better Place facility and gets some quick briefing on the work they are doing on electric cars. Learn more about Better Place here

The next video is Yoni sitting down to interview Joseph Gitler, who founded an organization called Leket, Israel's national foodbank. Since its inception in 2003, Leket has grown into an organization with tens thousands of volunteers and helps to save over 110 tons of food a week that would otherwise be destroyed or thrown away.

In the interview, Gitler discusses why he started the organization, how it grew and why he hopes it will ultimately go out of business in the future. To learn more about Leket, click here.

Cincinnati born and bred, Yoni found his way to STL by way of Washington University, where he earned a B.A. in Psychology. Mensch-wannabe, blogger, beatboxer, drummer, producer, Yid lover, hip hopper, and life explorer, Yoni just loves learning. Currently on loan from the Tel Aviv City Team (TACT), Yoni spends his evenings trying to understand metropolitan entertainment, networking and finance (music, people, and how not to go broke seeing as much of both as possible).
