What are David's Voice writers saying?

"Writing for David's Voice provides me with an awesome opportunity to interact with Cincinnati's Jewish community and in many ways, my own Judaism.  With every article I write, I not only get to challenge my creativity (asking how can I make this issue pop? what makes this so hilarious?) but also take a Jewish perspective (is this something my Judaism supports? what effect is this having on my community?).  It is a unique e-zine and I feel privileged to write for it!" – David Cobey

"It's no big secret to everyone who knows me that I love Cincinnati.  I have lived out of state and traveled extensively, but, there is just no place like home.  There are so many nooks and crannies to explore in our city, and writing for David's Voice has given me the opportunity to explore exciting events, activities, and people, and then come back and share where I've been and what I've done with the rest of the community.  I hope that my experiences will inspire people to get out and explore the amazing region that we have." - Amy Kurlansky

Most of our writers are Jewish, in their 20s and 30s, and looking to connect with new people and with their surroundings. They have a passion and initiative for finding new, positive experiences in Cincinnati. If you are reading, chances are you probably know something cool going on that we’d love for you to share.

There are two ways to write for David’s Voice!  Simply write…or take it a step further and become a David’s Amp.

As you know, David’s Voice is primarily an online vehicle, so we’d like to create some presence and awareness in the community.  We also are strong believers that David’s Voice is all about our writers.   As a result, we’ve come up with the idea to have “David’s Amps,” or key champions of David’s Voice, who would go to key Jewish and non-Jewish events in Cincinnati.   We will still have “our voices,” or our writers, but if you feel passionate about amplifying the Cincinnati community, take it a step further and become a David’s Amp!

What Does This Mean For You?

We will do our best to ensure you can attend and represent David’s Voice at key events or things going on in Cincinnati that you’re interested in (and that are in line with David’s Voice mission and goals) at highly subsidized or no cost.  You could do anything from blog about the event live on David’s Voice, record video footage including interviews of people, and/or pass out David’s Voice materials, to write a post-event article about your experience on David’s Voice.  And perhaps most importantly, besides giving you more “accessibility” to the events you’re interested in, you will have visibility on David’s Voice and in Cincinnati as a young thinker and thought-leader.  In other words, David’s Voice gives you a platform to brand yourself in the Cincinnati community.  You just need to be ready to go for it!

Specific Examples

You can become a “David’s Amp” for a variety of categories or you can focus on whatever interests you.  Here are some categories:

Dining Out

Community Growth and Innovation (example, young professional events or lectures)

Youth & Family

Music and Arts

Fitness & Sports

Home & Design

Jewish Life

If you’re interested in learning more about becoming one of David’s Amps, please email Mike Sarason, David’s Voice Editor, at editor@davidsvoice.org.
